Download free ringtones

I downloaded a couple of free ringtones in the APP Store from my phone. I said that it will send it to my email address with the instructions on how to move it to my phone. I followed the instructions and it send it to my iTunes. From there I was able to drag and drop it into the ringtones folder in my iPhone. I was able to play it, but it doesn't show up in the settings tab ringtone. When I look at the Ringtone tab in the summary, I can see them but they're greyed out. I tried to sync it, but it blew away all the songs in the iPod. I was able to put all the songs back but the ringtones still didn't get added to the settings for ringtones. Just for yucks, I bought a ringtome from the iTunes store and I didn't have any problem adding it to my phone. Any tips on how I can use the ringtones?
