Q: Ipod Universal Dock with remote & Component AV Cable - Big Problems

Hi All
I bought a universal dock around a month ago and connected it to my IMAC. I then put my Iphone 3gs into the dock. It started to charge and also opened itunes and synced. I presumed all was working well. When i tried the remote it brought up a great screen which allowed me to access what i thought at the time was the iphone itunes, and i also presumed this was going through the dock with the remote.

Today i got told at a store that if i bought a component AV cable which has the 3 video connections to a HD tv, blue, green & red together with the two audio cables red and white that i could connect the universal dock to the tv and that the same screen that comes up on the imac would apprear and i could play music, videos , podcasts etc through the dock in the tv.

Well it didnt work. I have since relised that the remote was controlling the actual IMAC and has linked itself to the IMAC itunes. I know this as it comes up in settings in front row and cannot be changed.

I did get the dock working through the tv and it played a tv show i had in my phone through one audio channel. The photo side of it would not work. Can play music but through one channel and if you take the dock out it works better.

Im now thinking either the cable or the dock are faulty, or both. Does anyone know if the remote window on the dock should light up? Any info on how this should work or a way of testing it would be much appreciated.

Cheers in advance
Troy
