Scan problem with Espon Stylus CX 6600 and OSX 10.6

Hello,
I would like to use the scan function on my Epson Stylus CX 6600 with my Apple iMac computer with Mac OS X 10.6.2 (update epson v2.2, software version 8.17). While the printer function works very well and is very well integrated into Mac OS X (recognition of the ink level tool print test page ...), the scan function does not work and displays "Epson Stylus CX6600 was disconnected", as it is in preferences, or software image transfer of mac os x. Is there an updated driver is expected to fix this problem? Is there a handling to do to fix this problem? Anyone has the same problem to scan with Epson Stylus CX600 and 10.6?

Having looked at the Epson web site it seems that your printer is not compatible with Snow Leopard as regards scanning, only for printing.

My understanding is that some 'older' units are not able to have all their functions continued in SL via updated drivers/software. Presumably it's to do with the unit's design.

If you want to pursue this I suggest that you contact Epson directly. It's not an issue which Apple have control of.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...

Go here...

Epson Stylus CX6600 All-in-One Printer

Try the Epson EasyPrint v3.10
Macintosh OS X (v10.6 - 10.6.x) compatible

After you install the driver repair disk permissions...

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

More info here. Mac OS X v10.6: Printer and Scanner and Software Help

Also, there are printer/scanner drivers available on the Snow Leopard disc or try your Mac install disc.

But on this apple support page : _Mac OS X v10.6: Printer and scanner software_ ( http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669), it is written that Epson Stylus CX6600 is supported for Print and Scan (v8.17). And because in Preference/print & Fax, it is clearly mentioned in two tabs "print and scan" (with associated tools for scan), and because the scan function is recognized briefly, I hope the scan function of this printer model has been planned for support, but a strange bug did not allow the scan function to work correctly.

I am looking for people with the same problem as me (to be sure that it is a bug), and what are they doing to scan? And after discussing with them in this forum, I will try also to connect directly Espon to know if they can fix this bug.

Thanks for that reply. I appreciate your comment.
I have visited the Epson French web site and there seems to be quite a bit of guidance given there for the correct procedures for getting your model to work with SL. Have you checked this? Unfortunately my French is not good enough for me to follow completely all the technical terms used. I'm presuming your French is good!

What I did notice is that they refer to installation of Rosetta which is part of the optional install on SL. I wasn't clear in my quick scan of their comments which parts of their software for your printer needed this.
