Disable VoiceOver?

I am using Voiceover with the new Shuffle. It is not working at all. I would like to be able to simply press the button on my earplugs and manually scroll through my playlists. Is there any way I can disable Voiceover and do this? Thanks.

Thanks so much! I will disable it as soon as I get home today. One quick additional question. With VoiceOver disabled, how do I use my earplugs to scroll through my playlists? I know 1 click stops the song, 2 clicks goes to the next song....or can this even be done? Put another way, what is the best way to get to my podcasts if I am playing my music, once Voiceover is disabled? Thanks again!
