Q: Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD and MacBook Pro

I purchased a Samsung SyncMaster P2770HD to use as an external monitor with my MacBook Pro. I am unable to get the resolution to work properly -- the fonts and images almost look pixelated. My multiple attempts to sort the situation in System Preferences have failed. Has anybody had a similar problem and resolved it?

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.8)

    I am running a MacPro.

The Menu on  my Samsung sa350 does not give me an "edit name" option, although the monitor has  VGA and HDMI inputs only. Any thoughts? At the moment I can get 720p resolution with a new Macbook Pro

    Thanks

Worked perfect ExcelonGT!!!  Thanks, now I can save my money from buying a new cable and adapter.  Now to figure out how to have the picture fill the screen.  I only have 16:9 & 4:3 available which leaves me with about 1.25" on both sides of the screen.

*****Here is the solution******  This link is in this thread down a bit.  Here's the link where I found the info below.  http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/samsung-syncmaster-p2770hd/4864-3174_7-3391 2090-1.html  Thank you to whoever posted this first!!

At long last, I found someone with the same problem AND a solution to the problem associated with the HDMI interface between a PC/MAC and the P2770HD. With the PC/MAC plugged into the P2770HD via HDMI, use the remote to select the following:

    - Hit "Source" button on remote

    - Arrow up/down to "HDMI' on the list, hit "Tools" button on the remote

    - Arrow up/down to "Edit Name" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote

    - Arrow up/down to "HDMI" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote

    - Arrow up/down to "DVI PC" or "PC" on the next list, hit "Enter" button on the remote (Monitor should automatically adjust picture so that text does not look terrible)

    - Hit "Exit" button on remote and WALA!

    Thank you,

this solution makes everything much much better,

BUT not perfect as it should be. Some elements are stil a bit blurry (input flags in menu bar)

I have accidently noticed that when I use my macbook pro (late 21013) in clamshell mode (with the same settings)

it is even better & sharper.

Is there away that I could use both screens in full res?
