Using Grab to grab outside a viewable area?

I have to do a project and need to take some screen grabs of some Safari windows (websites). Preferably, to jazz my document up I want window grabs of the entire pages (inc. window borders / scroll bars). My eMac has a big display area, but using Grab, its not quite big enough to capture the entire content of some sites and “all you can see in the window is all you get on the final grab image”.
I got this idea of ‘grabbing a big long window’ after seeing some website reviews in a Mac magazine so it must be possible, but do I need specialist software to capture a complete window including outside of the viewable area or is it just some Photoshop magic needed?

Will Woodgate...

Seems like those "Pro's" may have such a larger screen, it leaves us in the cold. Probably will need to invoke some PS tricks.

BTW when doing your screen grabs one has to be careful of the text. Because it takes a real picture you may find your text unreadable unless the resolution/native size is matched perfectly.

Well, do not take my word as 100% here as someone else may have a different game plan. Good Luck anyway...

Digger845...

Sorry Digger, but as Will Woodgate needs is beyond even the full screen Grab. More like "Beyond What You See Is What You Get" ... ( Or a $-Dream Mac-$ )

Facts

The eMac can get a Maximum 1280 x 960 capture. Power Mac users can get double of that. Like 30-inch Apple Cinema HD Display - 2560x1600 resolution.

(Other lessers like... 23-inch Apple Cinema HD Display - 1920x1200 / 20-inch Apple Cinema Display -1680x1050...)

That is a neat "freeware" app there. It can mangle some sites but overall does a decent job. I do not recomend saving things in .jpg as it kills text. .pdf and .png seem of good+ rating from me.

BTW http://www.pure-mac.com/screen.html is a site that has it. For giggles I shot that site with a .pdf that is 800 x 9342 px. It does not capture browsers or screen shots as it is a browser itself then actually makes a "print page" without any page breaks. I wonder if someone would have a 30' roll of paper to spare. 😉
