Downloading Movie to the IPod Touch

I just got my 3G IPod Touch for Christmas and am taking it on vacation next week. I would like to know if I can download a movie from ITunes straight to the Touch. How long does it take to download? Is it better to download to ITunes then sync the Touch? Anything else I should know about renting movies from ITunes? I'll be away from my laptop for 10 days so any suggestions would be helpful. I will have wi-fi available for the Touch.

How long does it take to download?

Download speed will depend on your internet connection, which unless you have a problem with your wireless network will be the bottleneck. See:

Is it better to download to ITunes then sync the Touch?

That's probably the way I'd do it. My understanding is that you can buy movies directly from the iPod, but I'm not certain you can even do the rental from the iPod itself, though it's possible that you can. Either way I'd still probably do it from iTunes on the computer and then transfer it to the iPod.

Anything else I should know about renting movies from ITunes?

The primary thing to keep in mind is that you have 30 days from purchase to begin watching the movie, and 24 hours to complete watching it once you begin. And the procedure for transferring a rental to the iPod will be different from synching music and purchased movies. See:

Thanks Dave. I'll download a couple of movies before I leave on vacation - hopefully everything will go OK. I've been reading about all the problems people are having syncing and watching movies on the Touch.

It says, "Select the movie and then click on 'Move.' My issue is I click on the movie and there is no "Move" button. I can't click and drag the movie to my iPod Touch. I seem to have no way to transfer the movie to my device.

Can you help?
