Anything for those of us with Windows XP x64? None of the new versions of iTunes seem to be willing to even work on it.

There has never been an iTunes for XP64.
Some people have had varied success in getting it installed.
Search in these forums or Google iTunes XP64.

As Chris already said, there is not and has never been a version of iTunes that was supported on Windows XP 64. Some people have managed to "force" the Vista 64 version of iTunes onto Windows XP 64, but with varying degrees of success. Search this forum for "XP 64" and you'll find a number of threads with suggestions and experiences in attempting to get it working.

I have just instaled a fresh copy of windows xp 64bit

There is no iTunes installer for XP64.
You will need to find instructions on the internet (not at Apple) to find out how to install the Vista 64 bit version of iTunes on XP64.

This long is not valid, at least on 3 July 2010. Is there a better link?
