Why won't MP4 video transfer to my iPhone anymore?

Hi Everybody,
Got my iPhone 3G 8GB in Jan 10 which has Firmware 3.1.2, i transfered various movies/video to MP4 format using 'Any Video Converter' program with great results and have dragged them to iTunes and then transfered to my iPhone with no problems THEN.......
on Wed i upgraded to firmware version 3.1.3 and everything seemed to be working fine BUT then when i tried to add an MP4 movie from my iTunes libruary to my iPhone it states 'movie file not added to iPhone' not correct format. I have down graded back to Firmware version 3.1.2 baseband 05.12.01 but get the same result when trying to add video from iTunes, i've converted some different movies to MP4 and added them to iTunes but they still won't transfer to my iPhone.
HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!! i'm now pulling my hair out.

As Gerald indicated to you, convert your files format once in iTunes and that will take care of you. The firmware downgrade does nothing because 3.1.3 firmware still works for my conversions. Also, when converting video for the iPhone 3G, use format *.mp4 with codec H.264 for best results. Even with that format, conversion within iTunes may still be required.
