Utility Hp Designjet doesn't work

I us Snow Leopard the latest version
After this update, the utility and color supply from my HP Designjet 90, doesn't work anymore.

Apple tells, that all drivers........ are included in Snow Leopard?

I have another Multi printer/scanner connected. Color level and utility works fine.

Yes, if someone knows anything about this, please help.

Snow Leopard also broke the HP Maintenance Utility on my system. I use a DesignJet 90r. The printer itself is visible in Preferences and I can print to it. But under Leopard I was also able to launch the printer utility -- a browser-based HP application -- from the printer queue. That utility is gone.

The utility is a critical part of the DesignJet printing system -- it's used for calibrating the printer whenever rolls of paper or inkjet cartridges are changed, cleaning print heads, and other maintenance. Not having it is a show-stopper.

I've downloaded and reinstalled the print driver update three times now, reset the printer system twice, fixed permissions and rebooted several times. I'm convinced that the update -- such as it is -- is being installed correctly.

I also spent some time on the phone today with an Apple support rep, who was polite but unhelpful. I have contacted HP support by email, but am not optimistic.

Another day of this and it'll be time to downgrade to Leopard. Disappointing, to say the least.

HP responded in less than 24 hours -- good for them. Their response:

Hello Steve,

Unfortunately on Mac OS 10.6, we are not going to produce an utility for the DJ 90. Our recommendation is to use the front panel keys of the printer in order to start the calibrations and cleaning procedures.

The utility that you found on the library folder is part of the drivers pack fo HP and it works for other models.

Now, if you need to calibrate the printer you can do it from the front panel. The printhead alignment is done by holding the power button + the resume button. The reume button, you need to press it three times while you are holding the power button.

The color calibration would be the same process, but instead of pressing the resume button three times you need to press it twice.

If you have any other doubt do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you for contacting HP Services!

So, mystery solved. Using the front panel for calibration and alignment seems to work. Another alternative that I tried was resurrecting a mothballed G4/OS 10.4.11 and installing and using the print maintenance utility from there. Either works and the print quality is fine. Looks like SL gets a reprieve for now.

Going to save Steve's post from HP. Assuming my 130nr is the same (config from the front panel).

I am new to Mac and am finding it frustrating to print from Lightroom (or anything) to this 130nr. In the Windows drivers (and older Mac OSX version drivers it seems) there were options - but I don't see any 'advanced' features.

On the Windows driver/utility you can select the roll, paper size, orientation, use the paper cutter/trim, etc. I just don't see any of that on my Mac (10.6.3). It sort of just 'prints' - pulls from whatever tray (ignoring the 13x18 loaded on the top tray at the moment) it wants.

Can anyone offer any insight on this? What am I supposed to see when I am in the printer utility/driver?

I downloaded and installed the HP Raster Printer Driver from the 130nr support page. It has a utility to find the printer (mine is printing over bonjour/ip... that the issue?) and it found it - there is a second and third installer package, one to install the driver and one to remove it. The install takes a few minutes, but finishes. The HP folder in the Applications directory is empty though.

If anyone can offer any insight, I would appreciate it.

*I guess I can always print from a Win7 machine sitting next to me... but that sort of defeats the purpose of workflow. 🙂

The Print dialog box in Lightroom (and other applications) should include a dropdown menu for setting advanced options. The initial setting for this menu is "Layout." The options vary by printer, but those for my DJ-90r include Color Matching, Paper/Quality (where you can set the paper source and type), and Finishing (for cutting and trimming from a roll paper source).

Adjustments can be saved as a preset -- select Save As from the Presets dropdown.

In Photoshop, these settings are available in a second Print dialog box.

Are you not seeing these?
