Problem installing quicktime "installation of assembly"-error

I had problems with syncing my Iphone to Itunes. But now I can´t reinstall neither Itunes nor Quicktime.

I have cleared all related programs off the computer. I have tried both explorer and Firefox browsers. I´m running as an administrator.

When I´m installing Quicktime (not with Itunes included) it suddenly stops when "Publishing product information" and then I get this faulty message: An error occurred during the installation of assembly 'Microsoft.VC80.CRT,version="8.0.50727.4053",type="win32",publicKeyToken="1fc8b 3b9a1e18e3b",process orArchitecure="x86". Please refer to Help and Support for more information. HRESULT: 08007054F.

Please help, I have looked all over this forum for advice and tried several suggestions, but nothing has worked.

Are Windows Updates currently installing for you, Martin? If not (or if you're just getting a lot of failures with Windows Updates), open up the entries for failed updates in your Update History. Are they showing the same error code (0x8007054F), or are you getting different error codes? If they are different error codes, which error codes are you getting for the Windows Updates failures?

The error message for those failed updates are: "Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 Service Pack 1 (KB951847) x86"

That's probably the source of the iTunes/QuickTime problems ... they may not run correctly if that isn't installed, as per the following document:

[iTunes for Windows: "iTunes was not installed properly. Please reinstall iTunes" message|http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3074]

Doubleclick a few of those .NET framework update failures. In the little box that comes up, what error code is listed?

(There's a reasonable amount of advice on install failures for that package at Microsoft.com, but the measures can be specific to particular error codes.)
