What is Remote Disk?

My new mini has a Remote Disk icon among the list of Hard Drives.
What is this for, and how can I disable it?

Regards

I believe that allows you to use an optical drive that is on another computer. I think you would only see it if your computer did not have a built-in optical drive (or maybe it is enabled on all Macs that might be shipped without one--like the Macbook Air and some Minis).

This [Macrumors forum article|http://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?t=455975] discusses how to enable it. You should be able to disable it by setting the bools to false--although I don't know why you would. If you don't like the icon in the sidebar, just drag it out. You can still get to the Remote disk by using Finder>Go>computer.
