If you retained a copy of your QT 7 Pro key, then simply re-enter the name under which you purchased the key along with the key itself. If you did not retain the key authorization information, log into your Apple Store account and goto the online purchases area to retrieve your key. If the QT Pro was authorized by Apple Pro video editing software, re-install that software.

have you heard about there being a issue between Final Cut and quicktime?

No, iMovie '08/'09, FCE, and FCP all still work fine for me under OS 10.5.8 for me. Only use my Snow Leopard platform for converting files -- not for editing, so I don't know if there is a problem under OS 10.6.2 at this time.

can you think of what might be causing this and how i can remedy?

Not really. Have no interest in guessing what specific combination of OS, FCP, and Pro compatibility updates you may or may not be using here. FCP 7, for instance requires OS 10.5.6 and QT 7.6 minimum. You might check the specific requirements for each software component for your particular installation.
