• 4-pin FW connector under the RCA analogue out set (small squarish one with a tooth)

Your iMac - You have to look either it is a
• FW-400 connector - Rectangular with one of the short sides semi circled
• FW-800 connector - Looks like a jumbo version of that one on Your Camera

iLink, IEEE 1394, FireWire, DV-in/out is the very same

Problem is - WHAT kind of FW-connector is there on the back of Your iMac
• Some FW-400 (9-pin)
• New only FW-800

Yes, it's the dv in/out socket.

I have a wire plugged into that socket and which I then plug into a converter which is plugged into the firewire port in the back of the iMac. I think the converter was about $15 (don't remember exactly) at the computer store.

I find my PD-150 works great with FCE. Captures easily and handles the files well.

Industry speak is IEEE1394a. All the same thing.

I thought my internal battery was dead, but it recharged. Check manual, but I think you have to leave the camera plugged in--without the main battery pack attached--for something like 24 hours.
