Mail Read Receipt

I am trying to find a Mac Feature similar to the read receipt that exists in Microsoft Outlook / Blackberry.
Is there a way of requesting a receipt when the recipient of the message opens it in his computer when using Mail?

Thanking you in advance for your help

Searching these forums comes up with numerous answers.

Quit Mail.
Launch Terminal and enter this line exactly as below:

defaults write com.apple.mail UserHeaders '{"Disposition-Notification-To" = " user@domain.com "; }'

(where user@domain.com is the email address you're wanting receipts to) and press Enter.

Note, however, that Mail does not respond to read receipts, and most (all?) mail clients have the option to turn off read receipts. Many people do choose to turn that off due to privacy concerns and the fact that read receipts have been misused by spammers. Thus, failure to receive a read receipt tells you nothing.

Just reinstalled the whole system and added my imap e-mail account about 8 hours ago since that I sent messages to 4 different e-mail addresses and looking in my PREVIOUS RECIPIENTS list I found another 3 e-mail addresses that are from 3 different messages that I opened for reading.

Curiously I went to my webmail and did NOT find any sent messages to these not used addresses.

IS MAIL SENDING NOTIFICATIONS OF MY READING??

I would like to prevent sending read receipts from my IPHONE when i am reading e-mail's. I've turned off it in Outlook, but my iPhone still sending. This behaviour of iphone is making me unhappy because of that spammers can get read receipts. After confirmation of mail address with this method, i am getting too much spam mail with increasing amount. I am tired of the replying medical product messages.
Blackberry has got this restriction under the function menu's.Is there any IOS upgrade under development for this issue?

You will get a better answer if you post your IPhone questions in the IPhone forum here: http://discussions.apple.com/category.jspa?categoryID=201
