Problems with recognising a MIDI keyboard

Howdy,

I'm running an old GarageBand on an old Mac (GB v2.0.2 on a G5 running MacOs X Tiger) and just bought myself a new MIDI I/O Interface that connects to my Mac through USB. I have been using an identical setup (though a different brand of cable) for almost four years until the last cable shorted out, hence the new one.

Problem is, none of my programs want to recognise my Yamaha PSR-225 keyboard.

I plugged it in correctly and accessed Audio MIDI Setup, and deleted the ghost connections from my old MIDI interface cable before dragging the connectors from my keyboard to the new interface. According to this, the device is set up properly. GarageBand pops up with "Two new MIDI inputs are available". Sibelius, my notation software, recognises the keyboard in its own "Devices" list.

Problem is, nothing will register the input or output. Selecting the keyboard as a device in Sibelius produces only silence and won't read input, and trying to record in GarageBand produces nothing but a blank track.

It's been quite some time since I've set up a MIDI device. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

PowerPC G5, Mac OS X (10.4.11), GarageBand v2.0.2
