Audio Sync

Hello -
I am having trouble with audio sync on some
clips imported from my digital video camcorder. In some clips, the voice
does not match up with the video, maybe by a few seconds. The footage is
fine on the camera. I have made sure (I think) that the capture settings
match the camera settings. I also tried to capture the video in relatively
short chunks (15 - 20 minutes) because I read something called ‘audio
drift’ may be an issue with longer clips. Also no dice. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Operating System = Mac OSX Version 10.5.8
Computer = iMac 8,1
Processor Speed = 2.8 GHz
Memory = 4 GB

Settings for Final Cut Express (version HD 3.5.1) = Under "Easy Setup" DV-NTSC 48kHZ

Camera = Canon Digital Video Camcorder ZR500, connected to iMac via Firewire
Audio setting for camera = 16 bit

Video footage is first transferred to iMac desktop, then a SATA drive, Western Digital Caviar, 1.5 tB. The video drive is connected to iMac via network cable
