wireless keyboard randomly disconnects

I updated my imac i7 including a wireless keyboard update recently. Since then my keyboard has been acting weirdly.

It disconnects at random intervals (unrelated to what I'm doing on my computer). It has 84% battery life at the moment and is close enough to the computer so neither of these things should be an issue.

Occassionally when typing a password online it will start filling out letters itself randomly for ages before disconnecting and then reconnecting after about 10 secs.

Its very infuriating (especially when added to the myriad problems with my imac that I've documented elsewhere). Anyone have any suggestions?

I'm experiencing the same problem: Apple bluetooth keyboard (alu 2009 version) disconnecting every one or two lines while typing text, then reconnecting spontaneously a couple of seconds later. Once it even started inputting an entire line of letters "i" while I wasn't pressing any key at all.

The problem started a couple of days ago. Before that the keyboard has been working OK for more than a month. The only things that changed recently are:

- The surrounding wifi signal: this week I'm at a different place where the wifi signal is strong (4 bars over 4 in the wifi icon in the menu bar), while usually it's rather weak (1 or 2 bars only).

- Last week I applied the latest firmware update.

- Last week I managed finally to find the procedure for pairing the keyboard while booting on Windows 7 via Boot Camp. The problem manifests itself while booting on OS X though.

Is this all a known problem?

This sounds like my problem with the same keyboard, only i am using a macbook pro 13".

Seems like this is a problem for some, but not all?

I have written in this thread http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2198403&tstart=0

What i forgot to mention in my other post is that i never had the chance to try it out without all firmware updates, since i just plugged it in two days ago and first thing i did was run a update..

I was thinking about trying it on my GF's Macbook 13"(not pro but still aluminium unibody version).

I'm also having this problem-wireless white keyboard which is about 4 1/2 years old, no previous problems, has recently been losing its Bluetooth connection even with fresh batteries. When I attempt the Bluetooth pairing process, it can't locate the keyboard and now, the green light on the keyboard is no longer flashing. Has this keyboard gone to that great old hardware home in cyberspace or is there a fix??? Thanks for any ideas!

Hi, This problem has recently started for me as well. It occurs when I put the computer to sleep, I wake up in the morning and the computer is awake and the mini wireless keyboard has disconnected. I have to restart to get it to reconnect, very annoying. Batteries are good and this recently started within the past few weeks. Hopefully someone has an idea???

I'm absolutely convinced it's a result of the Keyboard firmware update. My Wireless Aluminium Keyboard is constantly disconnecting and fresh batteries cure it for a while, but why should I have to replace it when a battery goes below 70%? And how Ironic considering the keyboard F/W update was for 'energy saving', and yet now I'm throwing away batteries faster than ever and also finding the Mac has been on all night without me knowing after the keyboard disconnect woke it up... wasting energy.

I want to roll back the firmware, but cant find out how to do this.

I'm FED UP with this constantly happening, there are loads of posts on this forum from people having the same problem, so Apple need to fix it.
