JhnD, I have a late 06 Intel iMac (1Gb Ram 250 Gb Hrd Drive). According to the info I have been able to find, this model of iMac will not work with Snow Leopard, BootCamp & Windows 7. However, having made sure my software was up-to-date, firmware etc, I was able to successfully partition and then run windows via BootCamp. Snow Leopard 10.6.2, BootCamp 3.1, and Windows7. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

Why 64 bit? i thought most of our mac are 32bit

Depends. If your Mac has an Intel Core Duo processor (the very first Macs from early 2006) than that processor does only support 32-bit Windows.
If it's a later 2006 model or even younger which uses the Core 2 Duo processor, that processor is 64-bit capable.

And OSX is a mixed 32-bit/64-bit operating system on Intel Macs since version 10.4 Tiger.
