Hello
I have created a logo using the "chalkduster" font. This font is part of the Snow Leopard system fonts. Where do I purchase this font for licensing?
This question has been brought up before by conscientious designers like yourself,
and I believe that if a font comes as a System Font with a Mac OS, is it now in the
public domain. I usually pay close attention to all matter fontish, and I'm pretty
sure I'm correct. Stay tuned.
Many years ago, when the Mac was new, I made a series of music fonts so that you could type a musical score in a word processor. Font Editor was the only font maker and it did not do kerning, so I used Fedit, a disk editor, to make zero width characters by editing the font file. Times have changed!
It never went far. The ImagerWriter driver for the wide carriage ImageWritter made a mess out of things. Zero width strings would not print and that meant many notes in a cord would be deleted. Also I was using different font sizes for different note durations and the LaserWriter scaled from the largest point size which made a mess.
