My MacBook has an accelerometer???

wow! I went to this link http://qcn.stanford.edu/downloads/index.php and downloaded their app for mac which can detect an earth quake and I ran a 3d graph diagnostic to see if my macbook can really detect vibrations and I was shocked! It even detected the faintest touch! Is this an accelerometer?
