Snow Leopard + Epson Stylus Pro 4000

Have new imac with macOSX 10.6.1 installed.
Now find Epson have not a driver for my Epson stylus Pro 4000. - probably too old.
When I print I get a light blue background - this shows even if I go to preview before printing.
I am using fujihunt pearl but their color profile is correct.
Appreciate any help.

According to Epson UK, you'll need to run your print application under Rosetta in 32-bit mode, as they've yet to release an updated driver for the Stylus Pro 4000 - http://www.epson.co.uk/Printers-and-All-In-Ones/Large-Format/Epson-Stylus-Pro-40 00/Drivers-Support?target=article&extn=.html&articleId=3561

Not sure if the above works as I'm using using Aperture 3, which doesn't have the option to open in Rosetta. So, what I've done is to partition a drive, install a version of Leopard (10.5) and use that as my operating system when I need to print. Under Snow Leopard, print management options are disabled in Aperture 3.

According to Epson tech, they are working on a print driver for the 4000, and that it will be released in the "Spring", whatever that means.

Hope this helps...

davsv1...

Didn't think I could, as 32-bit mode didn't show in Get Info... but after you mentioned it I found this thread - http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2345407&tstart=0 and did a safe boot... lo and behold it appeared...thanks for pushing me into looking for an answer!... hope this means I don't have to use Leopard every time I want to print... thanks again...

Yay! Thanks for that info. I was beginning to think they weren't going to support it at all for general application access. For Snow Leopard, I installed the Leopard drivers so the OS could talk to the 4000, and then print everything through the ColorBurst RIP, which is about the only way that works at the moment.

Actually I have just fixed all my printing problems....I've gone back to Leopard and ap2. I'm very disappointed with the time I have wasted trying to get it all to work with SL and Ap3. Now it all works fine again. Fortunately I had kept a copy of my old system on a spare drive so it only took 1 hour to boot again from the decision to revert, will try Sl and Ap3 again in a few months.

Tried the above driver from Epson Europe... printed via Snow Leopard 10.6.3 and Aperture 3 using the "more" option setting with a canned Epson profile... the color appears correct, but in landscape mode there is image cut-off on the right hand side, thus the full frame of the image is not realized... back to 10.5.8...

Finally got the above driver (8.19) to work in Ap3 by increasing the border size to 3/4" in the "standard" preset for letter size paper. I haven't tested it on other size papers, but it seems the problem lies within Aperture's "standard" preset, at least for letter size, as printing thru Preview has shown no problems.
