I'm running the latest version of Snow Leopard on my Mac Pro and want to share files with a PowerMac G4 running OS 9.1 I can mount the PM G4 volume in Snow Leopard just fine, but when I try to transfer files either way I get: The operation can’t be completed because an unexpected error occurred (error code -50). This happens with the AFP bundled with OS 9 and with ShareWay IP. The good folks at Open Door Networks suggested that this might be caused by a bug in OS 10.6.2 Any suggestions?
I think that you may need to bring the G4 up to at least 9.2.2 to connect. That version has a lot of things required for OS X integration, and I think it has specific things in AFP to access OS X shares. I have a 9.2.2 box that connects to SL on an Mini and it works fine. Also make sure that you have "share over TCP/IP enabled" on the os 9 box.
I know that snow leopard has issues with OS 9's AFP and in order to connect you have to initiate the share on the OS X box.

If you are referring to the transfer of hundreds of files at once, this is because of limitations of the OS 9 Finder. Transferring them in smaller groups can avoid this problem.
If you are referring to files of large size, that is a different problem.
I was referring to the transfer of two or three hundred or so files in a directory the largest of which was maybe 150mb. It worked to do it a few files at a time.
