Keyboard shortcut to connect bluetooth mouse

4 out of 5 days a week I have to use my trackpad to the Bluetooth status menubar and select connect. I have re-installed, trashed and re-created preferences but it just seems my mouse does not auto-connect to my MBP. So I have to manually connect.

It would be great to have a Finder keyboard shortcut to "connect". Since it is a System Preference, I don't see a way to access the menu from the Keyboard Shortcuts System Preference.
