2.4 Ghz cordless phone kills WiFi..???

My cordless phone seems to kill my Airport Extreme connection from my iBook. Is this possible or just a coincidence? The phone is 2.4 Ghz; does WiFi use the same frequency?

14 iBook G4 [1.42/60/1.5GB/Super] & eMac G4 [800/60/1GB/Super], Mac OS X (10.4.3)

Yes, WiFi networking uses exactly the same frequency.

You can try changing the channel used by your Base Station - experiment starting with either channel 1 or 11. This setting is found under the Airport tab of the Airport Admin Utility.

While changing the Base Station's channel can sometimes solve the problem, it doesn't always work - and if that is the case, your only option is to replace your 2.4Ghz phone with a 5.8GHz model.
