Formatting external hdd for PS3 and final cut.

I recently purchased a 1TB external hdd. I would like to partition this drive so I have 320gb to back up my PS3 and the rest to use to store my Final Cut express projects.
Does anyone know if this is possible? I know the PS3 only reads FAT32 and I am wondering if it will be able to pick up my external hard drive if part of it is not formatted FAT32.

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

You can partition a drive using the Disk Utility. One part can be formatted Mac OS Extended and another in MS-DOS which is FAT32.

Yes, but do you know if the PS3 will read the FAT32 partition if the drive has another partition on it that is not FAT32?

Oskar,
This is the Final Cut Express Forum, not a PS3 forum. There's no reason to expect anyone in this forum to be able to answer questions about PlayStations. Tom was quite reasonable suggesting that you search elsewhere.

Thank you Martin for that very helpful post. But I am not stupid and I know I can look elsewhere. I was hopeful somebody here might know. If not, that is fine. I really don't need the snobby replies.

Try and report back. It might help others. It will take literally five minutes. If it doesn't work you can reformat the drive in a moment.
