iPad and Comics

I have a digital comic collection at the moment in the form of cbr/cbz files along with ebooks in both epub and pdf format. I would love to get something like the ipad for reading my existing comics and books. Knowing how apple has gotten pretty controlling lately with the app store and what does and doesn't run on their products, I am a little hesitant about buying the ipad. I'm just worried that in the future apple may only allow comics via certain vendors on the app store and ban or make it really hard for existing cbz/cbr comic reader apps to function. Are my fears completely unfounded?

Will I be able to transfer my existing epub/pdf files on to ipad and use the ibook application for reading it?

See Grow Your Library on this page:

As for pdf and comics, if an iphone can read them then an ipad can presumably read them.

In the end, nobody can tell you anything about this that you cannot figure out for yourself from what iPhones can do or find in writing in Apple's ipad pages. Because there is no way for anyone to know more than that.
