"Tell a Friend" not working in Aperture 3

"Tell a Friend" not working in Aperture 3

After publishing new galleries using MobileMe, the option to "Tell a Friend" does not work. It used to work fine in previous versions of Aperture, but now nothing happens. Using the email option to send a photo works fine.

Has anyone else come across this?

iMac 2.66 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Hi,

I haven't published any new galleries in quite a while, and not in A3, but testing just now with existing galleries it is working as it should. Have you tested with existing gallery?

(I publish galleries currently to another service which is why I have no recent activity.)

Hi Ernie,

Just tried it with an existing Gallery, and same result. I assume that I have a setting wrong somewhere, but can't for the life of me work out where.

In Mail Preferences/General is Mail 4.2 selected as the Default Mail Reader? In Aperture Preferences/Export is the entry in "Email using"properly "Mail" (without the quotes)?

Hi Ernie,

Thanks for your suggestions. Yes, both preferences are set as you suggest. Out of interest I have just published a Gallery using iPhoto and the "Tell a Friend" button worked as it should, so I guess the problem probably lies within Aperture.

Okay, I have managed to resolve this myself.

I deleted the Preferences file (com.apple.Aperture.plist) located in my User/MyName/Library/Preferences folder.

I just want to confirm this fix. I had the same problem with the "Tell a friend" feature in Aperture 3 not working for some new galleries- though it has worked in the past in all versions of Aperture for me. Trashing the described prefs file and restarting Aperture solved the problem though a few other basic prefs need to be reset including pointing Aperture at my library which resides on a RAID - not on my main hard drive.

I tried deleting the preference file but it did not fix the "Tell a friend" action. But the deletion DID allow me to email photos, which was a separate problem I had.

I´m having the same problem, but i've noticed that the same library works on snowleopard (10.6.4) and doesn't work on 10.5.8.

My main computer is a Mac Pro 2007 running 10.5.8, and in this machine, "tell a friend" button does not work.

Any ideas?

I've deleted Aperture preferences, bun in Mail preferences I only can select Mail 3.X.X (Mac OSX 10.5.8)

I am having the same issue, recently upgraded from Aperture 2 -> 3 and the "Tell a Friend" is not working. When you select it, it appears to do nothing. I am able to email pictures from Aperture fine. The preferences delete did not work for me.

Just wondering if anyone found another fix? So far no luck for me..
