bad sound quality with headphones

Hello,

while you may not expect high quality from the MacBook's internal speakers, I expected the audio quality to be good when connecting a headphone. So I tried it with headphones that perform good with an iPod, and used audio of good quality. But the sound quality outputted by the MacBook was terribly bad.

Is the audio amplifier of the MacBook of bad quality, or is something wrong with my MacBook?

I'm looking forward to your responses.

Lyssa,

thanks for your response. The headphones are firmly connected and good enough to tell the audio signal fed to them is of poor quality. However, I tried them only with iTunes. But with my older iMac I've never had complaints about the iTunes sound quality! So I think both the software and the headphones are not to blame. I wonder whether others do experience this bad sound quality as well with the latest MacBook. If so, I have to get back to Apple because my MacBook is less than 2 months old...

Regards, Jan
