extending video clip

I need to extend he length of a video clip .....is there a simple way I can make it last longer?...can I easily convert the last frame into a still image?..I don't need any movement, I just need the last image to stay longer

As far as I know, one can only extend video to the length of the original clip...
Still images though can be set to any length...

Create a still image of the last frame of your video, and import that into your Timeline...

Put the playhead over the last frame of the clip so you see it in the canvas. Go to Modify>Make Freeze Frame or Shift-N. In the timeline step forward one frame so you're after the frame you froze, and insert it into the timeline for however long you want. If there's motion in the freeze you might have to apply the deinterlace filter to it.
