Problem with Canon RAW 5D/7D Raw file and Magenta highlights

I've also noticed that solorized magenta, but in chromatic aberration. With DPP or lightroom, images are easy to correct, not so with aperture 3.

I have exactly the same problem with the 7D RAW files. I have tried Leopard+ Aperture 2, Snow Leopard + Aperture 3 trial and nothing makes a difference. Horrible magenta colour cast on the neutral tones, yet the blues are over-saturated and total lack of sharpness no matter what you do.

I shot JPEG (neutral) and RAW together so know what they should look like. I don't get any problems with Canon DPP software so the error seems to be in the Aperture RAW converter. The issue seems to be more apparent in low light or images with a lot of neutral tones, other images shot outside in good light appear to be pretty much ok. I even tried the latest version of Lightroom and that can't seem to handle them well either.

Well I'd love someone to sort it out as I agree it's not fit for purpose currently with certain camera RAW files. The more people who complain, the more likely is that something will get done. I reported my issues via the feedback page:

I do have the problem with magenta...but it's a complete magenta tint appearing on my Canon 30D images...it's horrible...

...the last update did nothing to fix this problem.

I really hope that a solution is on the way...I love Aperture and don't want to switch to another software...

If this is OS-wide, try reinstalling 10.6.3 via the combo updater. There are a number of people reporting this fixes these kind of graphical issues.

I downloaded your files...right on quick look and preview the problem is clearly visible...and the same when imported in Aperture 3....I did the import on my mbp 13 with SL 10.6.3 and Aperture 3.0.3.

I tried to play with adjustments but nothing seems to work, fixing this looks almost impossible to me!.

That's really messed up. Can you post a jpg processed in DPP? I'm just curious.

nevermind, I forgot you started with a side by side. I never saw anything like that. Is there anything special you're doing like in-camera contrast settings or something? Can you reproduce the problem consistently?
