Burning Video_TS to playable DVD

*Note: I own the DVD's I'm attempting to copy*

How do I burn a Video_TS folder (ripped DVD by MacTheRipper) to a playable DVD on say a portable DVD player or any set-top DVD player?

Trying to backup a lot of the kids movies so they don't ruin the original copies when they're changing DVDs, and simply throwing them on the floor, on long car trips.

I tried using Disk Utility, but that doesn't work, it just makes it a data CD.

I know Toast/Popcorn are options, but I'm looking for a free option.

I'm using DL blank DVDs because the original DVDs were DL, so no need to compress or anything.

I have had the same problems. In previous OS X versions (pre 10.6), you could just drag the VIDEO_TS folder to the blank disc in finder and burn it. I also tried putting it in a folder, creating a disk image from the folder in disk utility, and burning that; it still will not autoplay. I think there is something different about 10.6. In any case, it is no longer simple to create an autoplay DVD that will work in a DVD player. Wondershare works...but it shouldn't be this hard.

I don't think I'm breaking any rules by posting this. I'm just trying to backup DVDs I own so that when the kid eventually throws, scratches, messes up the DVD, it's just a copy and not the original (which, as I stated I own).

I didn't think that was illegal, and I apologize if it is and I'm breaking the TOS by posting my question here.

And that is exactly what a "DVD" is.
I could watch it on my computer, but not a set top DVD player.

I have done this many times with no problems so it must be
something with your DVD player.

It also doesn't "autoplay" in DVD player when I put it into my computer, I have to open the media manually using DVD Player.

I'm saying its like when you burn a CD, you can burn it as a data CD (and hold 700MB of music, but not play it in a normal CD player) or an audio CD (and 120 minutes of music, and play it in a normal CD). There is a difference between a data DVD and a DVD that is formatted like a DVD that will play in a set top DVD player.
