How to share applications between iMac and Macbook

Greetings!

I am a new mac user and using a mac is quite foreign to me. I am trying to figure out how to share applications between my iMac and Macbook.

I have gone to system preferences and enabled the sharing on both computers however when I start sharing the Applications folder does not show up. I can see other folders just not the Applications folder.

Is there something I'm doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

iMac and Macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.8), Airport Extreme 802.11n Wi-Fi

It will probably be easiest to just install one copy of each application on each of your Macs. Application bundles generally take up very little space (the user data is what eats up a lot of hard drive space).

Make sure the licenses you have purchased allow you to install and use the software on more than one Mac at the same time.

You would have to add the /Applications folder in System Preferences Sharing as a shared folder. In the Sharing panel, highlight File Sharing and click on the + below the Shared folders list then navigate to /Applications. Then set up the user privileges for that folder as appropriate for your situation.

You're quite welcome, and thank you for the User uploaded file. Much appreciated.

As a side note, you don't need sharing enabled on both computers, unless you are allowing remote users to connect to both of them. You only need it on the computer whose /Applications folder (or other folders) you want to share. And, if your applications all work okay by doing so, I would recommend that you to set up sharing on the /Applications folder as "read only." Furthermore, if that computer (i.e., the Macbook) ever leaves your trusted LAN space, I would turn off file sharing altogether when not inside your trusted LAN space. I presume that your home router's firewall is buttoned up tight (i.e., NAT enabled, no port forwarding, no DMZ).
