I dipped my iphone in tea...

I dipped in the top of my iphone in tea. It's been almost 24 hours and the screen was stuck on the itunes setting, like when I first purchased the phone. Over night the phone shut off and will not turn back on, Its it a gonner?

Since moisture and electronic devices don't mix, when any electronic gets wet especially when submerged in any liquid, the first thing you should do is power the device off and leave it off until the internal components are completely dry. This will usually take several days at least placing the iPhone into a plastic baggy with silica gel caps or with rice during that time.

Very more than likely your iPhone is a goner.

Thank you for your reply! I love my iphone and will wait the few days to see what happens. My nephew opened the rear passager door, while we were driving, as we were turning a corner!! myself, sitting passanger, put in phone in the cup holder and turned back to stop him. When I turned back around to get my phone... it was in my tea! My brothers children... you gotta love um'!

Try this, it worked on my iPhone after dropping it in a glass of Diet Coke. Place the phone in a bowl filled with Isopropyl alcohol for an hour. Remove the phone and blow out any moisture with compressed air. Place phone in charger for at least three days. If successful the phone will turn on and work. The screen may have streaking but this will eventually fade away.

You have nothing to use by trying this method.

If it's good quality IPA, it will be non-conductive and will help disperse the 'tea' and dry out the iPhone faster. If my iPhone was fully/mostly submerged and dead, I'd probably try this, although I wouldn't plug it in... I'd do what you said, and let it dry for a week or so.

I'm assuming that the $.75 bottle at the grocery store would not be the best choice of IPA.

🙂... probably not but it might be. It will be OK as long as it's using distilled water, which is non-conductive.

Maybe I'll buy some and check it... I have access to a conductivity meter at work. Would be curious to know myself, just in case. 😉
