APPLE - TAB - switching between programs

Hi

I'm having issues more and more with the 'finder' in that switching between programs doesn't actually switch properly.

For instance, I would tab out of a program, hit apple-Q and the program that I tabbed out of would close.

I have the same issue when clicking on different windows - for instance I click on a abrobat window and start making changes, but the menu bar at the top of the screen is still stuck with InDesign.

I have the same issue when using multiple programs at random, I just had a notepad open and couldn't switch back to adobe to copy text back in - no amount of tabbing or selecting the program would actually take me back to acrobat.

Any ideas? Is this just one of the joys of working on a Mac or do I have some kind of virus?

Many thanks!

whatever it is that bugs your Mac, it certainly ain't a virus - there are none attacking Macs at this time !

running a permission repair is good advice. if no improvement, you might want to consider to

1) clone your startup disk to an external HD
2) apply the 10.5.8 combo update to see if that fixes things. you can download the combo here: http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1048comboupdate intel.html.

good luck !

Repaired permissions and it doesn't seem to have made a difference. Had a play with spaces and it does seem to solve the problem to some degree but I can't see myself using it in the long term - there are very few options to bind key shortcuts and it seems clunky compared to a quick apple-tab.

I guess I'll just have to get used to it, thanks for the advice everyone.
