iMovie worked with my new Sony HDR-XR100 for a few days and then quit -WHY?

I just bought a new Sony Handycam with a hard drive, and USB interface recently. I was able to successfully use it to import video from it to my iMovie '08, but yesterday, i tried it and even though the disk icon showed up on my desktop, when I opened iMovie, it did not recognize the camcorder, and I was unable to import any video from the camcorder into iMovie '08.

I have combed the support forums, but no solutions for me so far.

Can anyone help me?
Can I solve this by re-setting something on my Mac, or deleting a temp file or something?

I figured out the iPhoto problem, but it didn't solve my .MTS import problem.

To get iMovie (instead of iPhoto) to pop-up when you connect your Handycam to your MacBook via USB, open up "Image Capture.app" from your applications folder, then choose "Image Capture / Preferences" from the Toolbar. Then choose iMovie instead of iPhoto in the "Image Capture Preferences" dialog box.

Now, when I use USB to connect the Handycam to my MacBook, it launches iMovie as expected .... but .... it still doesn't pop-up the "Image Capture" scanner, window.

One symptom of the problem is that when I choose "File / Import from Camera" (from iMovie), iMovie doesn't even show the Handycam listed as an option (bottom left of the "Import From" window). And dragging the .MTS files onto iMovie doesn't seem to work either.

Do you have any idea why iMovie isn't working with my Handycam anymore?
