I have a 1Gb Hynix hmt112s6afr6c memory card that I think was taken from a MacBook Pro. I'm trying to find out if this will work in an iMac (early 2006 Intel)? Thanks

Macbook Pro, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

    Hi Robert:
Your 2006 vintage iMac will use PC5300/667mHz RAM. What version of the MacBook Pro do you have? They used the same spec RAM unti late '08 or early '09.

    Hope this helps

    Robert,

If the memory specifications for both machines are identical yes no problem, if they are not then no they won't work. Because you don't say exactly what Imac and what MBP you are referring we cannot research it. My recommendation is to refer to the owners manuals for both machines which you can locate here.

    Regards,

The information on the MacBook memory indicates that it is DDR3 PC3 8500 (1066) SODIMM. The memory for the iMac is listed as PC2-5300(667) DDR2 200-pin
SODIMM. I thought that even though the MacBook memory had different specs it might still be compatible.

They must have identical specifications, the two machines you describe are generations apart and use quite different components.
