This is a bit off-topic here, but I have a huge library (131 GB, 2300+ albums). The files in the iTunes folder are
itunes library.xml (30 MB) and
itunes library.itl (4 MB)
Are you saying that the 4 MB file is used by iTunes and the xml file is not?
Will there no issues (itunes won't be corrupted) if the xml file is damaged or deleted (since it is not used by itunes)?
Yes, the iTunes library.itl file is the database file used by iTunes.
It contains all the info about everything in iTunes.
Album artwork is stored in the Album Art folder in the iTunes folder or if you add artwork yourself, it is stored in the song file.
The iTunes library.itl file is what is used to generate the .xml.
