Export playlist to m3u?

I would like to export playlists created in iTunes to M3U files (my DLNA device reads M3U files).

How do I do this?

This seems to be the only application to do this.

Anyone else here recommends this? I don't want to run anything that corrupts the iTunes library ..

It can't corrupt iTunes as it reads the .xml, which iTunes does not use.
the .xml file is created only for other apps to use.

However, as part of your regular practice, you should update your regular back files before doing this.

This is a bit off-topic here, but I have a huge library (131 GB, 2300+ albums). The files in the iTunes folder are

itunes library.xml (30 MB) and
itunes library.itl (4 MB)

Are you saying that the 4 MB file is used by iTunes and the xml file is not?
Will there no issues (itunes won't be corrupted) if the xml file is damaged or deleted (since it is not used by itunes)?

If you delete the .xml file, iTunes will recreate it.

If the .itl file becomes damaged for some reason, iTunes will read the .xml file to attempt to recreate the library.

Final Q: How does iTunes recreate the XML file? Is all the track info, album art, etc stored in the .itl file?

My music is in different directories and not managed by iTunes.

What's a good web site to read up on these details?

Yes, the iTunes library.itl file is the database file used by iTunes.
It contains all the info about everything in iTunes.
Album artwork is stored in the Album Art folder in the iTunes folder or if you add artwork yourself, it is stored in the song file.
The iTunes library.itl file is what is used to generate the .xml.
