Safari can't/won't load YouTube

I have had my computer for less than 60 days, and I've loved it...until now.
About a week ago, I was having issues with Wikipedia. All of the images showed up a a blue question mark; however by the next day the issue seemed to resolve itself.

Unfortunately now YouTube is not working properly. (i'm using Safari, btw)
Two things: none of the thumbnails will show up (blue ? instead), and the page is continuously "loading" & most videos will not play. All of those stupid advertisement videos are playing tho.
I have emptied the cache and when i go to look for the com.apple.safari.plist is my preferences folder it's not there (i donno why). Oh, and i also have made sure i have the latest version of Flash player.
Please help. I really don't like being ticked off at my new computer.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...

Try uninstalling then reinstalling a fresh copy of the Flash Player plugin.

Uninstall Flash

Install Flash

Then Repair Disk Permissions

Quit any open applications/programs. Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and *restart your Mac.*

I have emptied the cache and when i go to look for the com.apple.safari.plist is my preferences folder it's not there (i donno why)

The com.apple.Safari.plist file is in your home folder. Open a Finder window. Select your user account in the Sidebar on the left (it has a house icon). Open the Library folder then open the Preferences folder.

Hello & welcome to AD Tech Mess,
Oh I feel for you, my Youtube is a must 🙂

Okay, please check your version here to see which version they claim you have.

Which version of Safari are you on?

If adverts are loading I don't think your problem lays with Flash.
lots of those are flash, this maybe an issue with DNS or network.

I'm with Eme on this - it seems that your mac is failing to find various items, regardless of whether or not they are Flash files ( the youtube video thumbnails are just jpeg images, like the wiki ones )

This could be an issue with your internet connection, or simply a 'dns' problem at your isp; meaning that the 'phonebook' being used to locate some files & webpages, isn't working correctly.

First thing I'd try is adding some different dns server numbers - you can use google's public dns : http://code.google.com/speed/public-dns/docs/using.html

or opendns : http://www.opendns.com/
---

It's also possible that some sort of internet safety or content filter, or antivirus type software is wrongly blocking youtube content - do you have any such thing ?
