Awesome job! I modified it a little (just changed the path for FFMpeg executable) as a didn't want to pay for ClipGrab and just installed FFMpeg compiled for the mac from "hxxp://ffmpeg.arrozcru.org/autobuilds/ffmpeg/macosx64/static/". Worked beatifully!

Thank you. I have never really done much editing before and this was really helpful

This workflow had been tremendous prior to my Lion update. Now I'm getting all sorts of garbled audio in the resulting file. I reinstalled Perian 1.2.1 and Click Grab is in my apps folder. I tried to reinstall the Rewrap script, but it doesn't seem to be available?

Any suggestions? I'm using the Panasonic 700M.

    Alan,

I followed all the steps and i just cant get the app (Rewrap2m4v) to stay open.

It will try to open for a 1/2 of a second and close.

    Can you advise?

    Thank you,

    Joseph

Are you dragging the files onto the icon?  That's the only way it works.  You also need to have ClipGrab installed in your Applications folder.

  • doulma Level 1 Level 1

    Yes, and installed Clip Grab.

I'm using i movie 11 does it make a defferance?

Im just not sure if the app supposed to stay open (light under the app in the dock)

    Thank you,

The app will close automatically when it's done.  Did you get a rewrapped file?  It should be in the same folder where you had the original.

    Good morning all,

I have a Panasonic TM900 and following your guide I was able to import the avchd files into iMovie 11 (not recognized before), but i have a problem. The video imported has lower quality than the original one; I do think that iMovie does some conversion.

I read somewhere that iMovie convert to AIC format, is it true ?

How can I avoid this ?

I would like to work with HD files to obtain the best quality possible.

    Can someone help me ?

The only way to avoid the conversion is to use something other than iMovie.  AIC is the native language that iMovie speaks for editing.  Have you tried exporting any video?  It's possible that the quality you're presented with in the editor is not full quality but "good enough" for editing purposes.  I've always been quite pleased with the QuickTime exports of my video.

These is how I import to iMovie:

    1) Copy the files from the camcorder to the hard-disk

    2) "Convert" them with rewrap2mv4

    3) Import files onto iMovie

    4) ....

    5) Export

The problem is after point 3; the quality is sensible low from the original.

Is it true that is possible to modify iMovie to accept video in 1080p50 natively (using plist or something like this) and how ?
