Is there a way to prevent text messages from being deleted?

I cannot find a way to disable texts from being deleted. Is there a way? Why have parental controls if you cannot have the ability to prevent such things from occurring? I do not want to stop texts from being sent, I want to be able to view the entire history of all messages and recipients sent. Can this be done?

Mac Pro x 2, iMac, Macbook, MacBook Air, Iphone 3G, iPhone 3Gs, Airport Extreme x 2, Mac OS X (10.6.2)

Texts aren't automatically deleted unless someone actually deletes them. I'm going to guess that you are letting a child play with your phone which is never a good idea.

The phone isn't mine, its my teenage daughters. I am aware the texts aren't automatically deleted, I am trying to prevent them from being deleted without my knowledge (hence parental controls). Asking again with someone who has an answer and not an opinion, can this be done?

No
There is no restriction for the SMS application. You can view text history in your on-line AT&T access, however that would only show the numbers to and from for texts, not the content.
