Sigh. Mine seems to have been returned to KY:

LOUISVILLE, KY, US 04/02/2010 8:51 A.M. SHIPMENT IS HELD TO VERIFY COMMODITY DESCRIPTION WITH THE CUSTOMER FOR CORRECT CLASSIFICATION / BROKERAGE RELEASED SHIPMENT. SHIPMENT IS SUBMITTED TO CLEARING AGENCY FOR FURTHER CLEARANCE
GUANGZHOU, CN 04/02/2010 4:10 A.M. DEPARTURE SCAN
SHENZHEN, CN 03/29/2010 11:44 A.M. ORIGIN SCAN

The "Louisville, KY" info is the same info that was posted on Tuesday, March 30th! I guess I'm going to have to call UPS and find out why they've returned the shipment to KY.

Just got off the phone with UPS. The Louisville KY info on the 30th was an internal communication that shouldn't have been posted. They have confirmed that my shipment will be delivered tomorrow, Apr 3rd, NLT 7:00 P.M. PDT

BTW, I downloaded my first iPad app yesterday from the iTunes Store.

I wonder how many thousands of people will not get their iPad delivered on saturday the 3rd because UPS does not deliver to their home town on saturdays. looks like I will be one of those who have to wait till monday or tuesday, last update I seen on ups tracking site mine is still in korea. this really *****. I am so disappointed.

You'e "p*ssed" and nothing has even happened yet?

Wow.

Gregory,
And whose fault is it for not checking who the shipper would be?
And whose fault is it for not convincing their town council to ask for UPS to ship to their town on Saturdays?
And who chose to become an early adopter?

Have some patience man. A bird in hand is worth more than two in the bush. Use what you have today to its fullest advantage, and be happy when you get something that will improve your life. But don't expect everything to come overnight. Instant gratification rarely pleases well.

I won't comment any further

Just as Apple did with the iPhone 3GS they have contracts for additional drivers for delivery. You will get the device on its release date. The tracking info till then will not help you. When I got my phone the tracking info was very confusing, when the Fedex guy got here he said additional drivers had been sent out and all deliveries had to be there by 10am. Mine was at my house at 9:30am. Just chill out.

I suspect it is only a matter of time before all health insurance companies will be required to included treatment for "gadget arrival anxiety disorder" in their coverage plans:-)

Look, I'm as excited as ANYONE! But lord, the Saturday delivery hasn't even arrived and people are screaming?
Your'e right Tom. Maybe insurance companies will even drop coverage if they can prove you're an Apple fanatic?
I'll have to email Obama...

Man, this info is really helpful. It's nice to know this from someone who has actually been through a very similar scenario.

I spent a couple hours today trying to nail down on the phone *** happened to my iPad because the tracking info is totally fubar. Neither Apple.com store support or UPS support could give me any accurate information via their call centers.

Through some google searching I found two UPS Twitter accounts: TomasAtUPS & MikeAtUPS. These guys have been doing customer service via Twitter for iPad customers and are confirming exactly what you stated above so thanks again.

When I called UPS (see my posts above) they transferred me to the INTERNATIONAL call center who is handling the shipping. There the rep explained about the special contract between Apple & UPS for iPad delivery on Apr 3rd.

BTW, the case I ordered at the same time will also be delivered on Saturday by FedEx.
