10.6.3 is out today.

I use Hopper's Nighthawks for a desktop and I gotta tell ya, after installing the 10.6.3 combo update, it is stunning.

Something in the graphics got tweaked or they changed the file, but it is much better now (not that it was bad before).

But as to the other, can you point us to the 'well posted rules' you refer to? As well posted rules, I've looked for 15 minutes and can't find them.

There are always problems that other people encounter. Just like every other OS X update released this one will be declared to be the "worst ever" by someone. This forum will be filled with "this update killed my computer" and "doesn't Apple test anything" posts. It's part of the process. Then the issues will be sorted out and found to be mostly user error or misunderstanding, failure to properly prepare for the update, and application of the update over an already unstable system. It happens every time. It's rare that a universally show-stopping bug that affects all users gets out. Very rare.

it has successfully killed vlc once so I had to force quit and my eyes are broken since I think there is a yellow tone on my screen now. Thats not possible so ill go to sleep and hope im better tomorrow

pretty much all video on apple site is dead if using Chrome (at least for me) lol. Embarrassing

Edit: ty the color profile thingy helped a bit I think... even the cat looks yellow now so I cannot tell. Fresh eyes tomorrow will do it hopefully 🙂

On both my systems the wrong color profile was selected after the update. Might be an explanation for your "yellow screen tone".

A word to the wise:

Before you even think about installing any system upgrade, make sure you have a *full bootable clone* of your *entire hard drive* and test it to make sure you can boot from it.

Then install the upgrade.

I'm running 10.6.3 now. The update (Combo) was completed without issues. So far no glitches or problems. The system seemed to boot faster after the update but it may be just my perception. Other than that all seems well as usual. I've never really had any serious problem with an OS X update over the years.

Wow, after a wait of half a year Snow Leopard can again connect to my Airport Extreme base station. Am I impressed? Not really. 😉

The scary part is all the security holes that had appeared in the MacOS. I find this worrisome.
