How to underline cells in a spreadsheet

I have two columns of numbers. The first contains values and when I add the first 10 rows, the sum appears on the 10th row in the second column as a sub-total. Then, another 10 values in the first column is sub-totalled in the second column, and so on. Eventually, at the bottom of the second column, I will have a total of all the sub-totals above it.

I wish to underline the 10th, 20th, 30th, etc. row but when I underline the first one and go elsewhere in the spreadsheet, the first underline disappears.

How do I make the underline "stick" so I can repeat it every 10 rows or so? Does it have anything to do with "Cell Borders"?

Thank you.

It is likely you are not following all the steps.

If you want to underline an entire row, click on the row header (the number) to select the entire row or, if you do not want it to apply to the header column, select all but the header column. Click on the border tool on the toolbar and select "bottom edge" then use the rest of the tools to make a border with the line type, thickness and color you want. To make copies of it for the other rows, turn on Allow Border Selection in the Table menu. Select the border by clicking on it (once gives you the entire border, again will select a segment, again will go back to the entire row). Copy Style. Select the other borders you want to change. Paste Style.

Alternatively for the borders, you can turn on Allow Border Selection first then select all the borders you want to change and change them all at one time.
