nomachine nx client

Hi,

this is just a quick hint for those who also encounter problems with the nomachine nx client after updating to 10.6.3. If you get an error msg like this :

+NXPROXY - Version 3.4.0+

+Copyright (C) 2001, 2010 NoMachine.+
+See http://www.nomachine.com/ for more information.+

+Info: Proxy running in client mode with pid '3076'.+
+Session: Starting session at 'Tue Mar 30 08:41:41 2010'.+
+Error: Can't determine the location of the X display socket.+
+Error: Error 2 'No such file or directory' checking '/tmp/launch-TuTWRz/org.x'.+
+Session: Session terminated at 'Tue Mar 30 08:41:41 2010'.+

Simply open a Terminal, go to the directory that is mentioned (in this case /tmp/launch-TuTWRz) and use the following command :

ln -s org.x\:0 org.x

It looks like 10.6.3 now creates this files with the display number (:0) appended. And the nx client is looking for the file without the display number (like it was prior to 10.6.3).

HTH,

YenZi

It didn't work for me (although I was very optimistic).
In my case it was
Error: Can't determine the location of the X display socket.
Error: Error 2 'No such file or directory' checking '/tmp/launch-XwV5dR/org.x'.

There was no directory /tmp/launch... so I created it and then added the x.org link. Still no luck.

Do the permissions on the /tmp/ directory and x.org:0 file matter? Do they have to belong to user nx or root?

Hi robgmann,

I have one stupid question : You did look into /tmp of your Mac, didn't you ? Or did you look at the /tmp of your target (server) machine ? The org.x needs to be on your client (Mac) machine.

I double checked this. It looks like Mac OS X is setting up these /tmp/launch*/org.x socket files on system start up. So, if possible, try to reboot your machine and have a look at your /tmp directly after login. In a terminal cd to /tmp and do a "find . -name org.x*".

Thank you YenZi
It works fine for me. But after upgrading to 10.6.3 I have one additional issue. If I start nx session in my office then => suspend it then => resume session at home then => after coming back to the office I'm not able to connect to ANY nx servers. My Nxclient 3.4.0-7 just says that I have no network connection to server. Only after rebooting and reapplying again your command it is able to start new nx session.

Hi,

thanks. Using your workaround it was possible to connect to the server but the display does not show up:
