ipod wont go to the home screen

whenever i try to turn on my ipod touch the apple logo appears and stays there turn it becomes blank again. ive tried charging my ipod and whenever i do te apple logo appears once more. on itunes the ipod syncs with my computer but the apple logo is still the only thing that is on my ipod. im going crazy not being able to listen to my music
