Computer will not turn off

Hello:

Recently my computer will not shut off. Which unfortunately I must do when it is not in use since I installed a USB 2.0 PCI card (this has disabled the sleep function).

It will get to the blue screen and the spinner just keeps spinning. Last night I waited about 10 minutes until I forced it off by holding the power button on the monitor. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

G4, Mac OS X (10.4.11), 733 GHZ Power PC

Hello again! 🙂

How full is the Hard Drive? How much Free Space?

I think you should get Applejack...

http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596

After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, (+s), then when the DOS like prompt shows, type in...

applejack AUTO

Then let it do all 5 of it's things.

At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.

The 6 things it does are...

Correct any Disk problems.
Repair Permissions.
Clear out Cache Files.
Repair/check several plist files.
Dump the VM files for a fresh start.
Trash old Log files.
