Stuck with Front Row

My mother was trying to email two simple jpg files from "Documents" folder. I don't know what she clicked. She ended up with Front Row stuck on her screen. Could not exit. Mouse did not work, neither was the keyboard. She also remembered hearing excessive HDD scratching.

When she described the problem, I did not understand because I've never seen Front Row. I had to drive clear across the town to help her out.

I had to yank off the power in the back. Then boot. Everything is a o.k. now.

How could one end up with Front Row? Especially from an email environment?

2009 iMac. 2.66GHz. 4GB. 320GB. nVidia 9400., Mac OS X (10.6.2), FireWire HDDs: TimeMachine 500GB. Pics 500GB. Video 1TB.

That is expected behavior from mothers 😉
btw - instead of "yanking out" the main, you could just hold down the power button on the Mac until it shuts off.

Likely she accidentally leant her elbow on the cmb key accidentally and hit esc at the same time .

This key combo activates Front Row .

To return to the main OS when in Front row you just hit the esc or any letter key again.

When on Front row the mouse does NOT Work by design.
The only keyboard keys that do anything are the arrows and return
OH and the Apple remote as well.
