MMS: APN is blanked after a while

MMS: APN is blanked after a while

I have setup my iPhone 3GS 32GB ver. 1.3.3 (7E18) to MMS and Mobile Data and 3G according to my Telephone Company's instructions, and I can send and receive MMS.

But after a while the MMS APN field is blanked.

Does anybody know why?

APN settings are normally sent to your phone by your carrier, rather than being manually entered. Are you on PAYG ?

Have you subscribed to a 3G service or are you just on GPRS ?

My carrier does not sell iPhone hence they do not send the settings to the iPhone. However they have a nice guide on their homepage showing how to do. This works fine, and I can send and receive MMS's (I have 3G service).

The problem is now, that the APN parameter (which for my carier is "mms") comes and goes fore some reason that I can't figure out.

While writing this my APN is "mms" and I am able to send and receive MMS's - but in two minutes, one hour or maybe 24 hours, the APN will be empty again and then I can not send/receive MMS's. I will then have to wait until the APN shows "mms" again.

This is quite anoying.
