Micron Alesis(or other synths) to Garageband

Im on a macbookpro and recently purchased a micron alesis. Right now im using garageband 4 and a mobilepre(soundcard/interface).

I would like to connect the micron with garageband(so i can add textures to my songs on GB). So in other words connect the micron to GB and record it as a real instrument(same as e.g guitars) How to do i do this? Do i need a midi to usb cable? Or midi to jack(into the audio interface)Will the micron pop up automatically in GB?

Help would be appriciated !! thanks.

connect the micron to GB and record it as a real instrument

connect it with an audio cable to the Mac's line-IN

thanks, so i can use a jack cable from the synth(output) and to a jack (input) on the audio interface/soundcard which is connected to the laptop.. Then just add whatever real instrumenent track on GB? I tried this setup before and it didnt work..

does it work with another output device plugged into the interface the same way?

thanks, i will look into that.

How do i connect the synth as a midi to GB? Do i need a midi cable(out from the synth) and a usb in the other end(which connects to the laptop)? Do i need something like this? http://www.m-audio.com/products/en_us/Uno.html

Will the synth/midi pop up in GB or do i need to add something?

assuming a compatible MIDI interface, it will just work, nothing to set.
